In October 2024, cyclone Boris struck the south of the country. At Cudalbi, in Galați county, the Lungu family's house collapsed. When we got there, the yard held a heap of rubble.
We decided to build on a timber frame, with panels. It goes up faster than masonry, and winter was ahead of us.
We carried the materials from Bucovina, in the association's van and on the trailer. We made several trips.
By November the walls were up. The roof went on at the same time.
Until the house was ready, the family slept in a container. It was not a long-term solution, only a postponement. It kept the cold out, more or less, but living there for any length of time was out of the question.
In February 2025 we brought the furniture. The stoves were lit.
Four months passed between sleeping in a container and being home.
