What data we process and why
If you donate by bank transfer
We receive your name, account and the amount from the bank. We need them in order to record the donation in our accounts and to be able to thank you. Basis: the legal obligation to keep accounts.
If you donate by card
The payment is processed by NETOPIA Financial Services SA, a payment institution authorised by the National Bank of Romania. Card details never reach us and are not stored on this site. From the processor we receive the payment confirmation, the amount and, if you give it, your e-mail address.
If you redirect 3.5% of your tax through Form 230
The form contains your name, personal identification number and address. They are required by law for filing with the tax authority and we use them for nothing else. Basis: legal obligation.
If you write to us
We keep your message and the address it came from, for as long as we need to answer you and to pick the conversation back up if necessary. Basis: our legitimate interest in replying to people who contact us.
Simply visiting the site
The hosting server keeps, like any server, technical logs with the IP address, the time and the page requested. They are needed for security and for troubleshooting. We use no statistics tools and we do not track visitors.
Who we pass data to
- The hosting provider — Hostinger, which runs the server and its logs
- The payment processor, NETOPIA Financial Services SA, for card donations
- The bank — for transfers
- ANAF, the Romanian tax authority — only for Form 230 filings
- Our accountants — for recording donations
We do not sell or rent data to anyone. We do not use it for advertising.
Content brought in from other sites
On the front page we show the posts from our Facebook page. For them to load, your browser requests images from Facebook's servers, and those servers see your IP address. The same happens with the fonts, which load from Google.
We have no control over what these companies do with that data. If it bothers you, most browsers let you block external content.
How long we keep data
- Accounting documents and donations — 10 years, as the law requires
- Form 230 filings — the period laid down by tax legislation
- Messages we receive — as long as we need in order to deal with them, as a rule no more than two years
- Server logs — the short period set by the hosting provider
What rights you have
- to find out what data we hold about you
- to ask for it to be corrected, if it is wrong
- to ask for it to be deleted, when the law does not oblige us to keep it
- to ask for processing to be restricted
- to receive the data in a format you can take with you
- to object to processing carried out on the basis of legitimate interest
Write to us at contact@reliefandtrustsociety.org and we will reply within a month at the most.
If our reply does not satisfy you, you can turn to the Romanian National Supervisory Authority for Personal Data Processing — 28-30 G-ral. Gheorghe Magheru Blvd, Bucharest, dataprotection.ro.
The photographs on the site
The site shows photographs taken at our events and on our building sites. We publish them with the consent of the people in them. If you appear in a photograph and would rather not, write to us and we will take it down, without asking why.
